Mr. Boyle, is a Senior Trial Attorney for the Barone Defense Firm, whose practice is exclusively limited to defending persons charged with crimes related to driving after the consumption of either alcohol or drugs. Mr. Boyle was recently promoted to a Senior Trial Lawyer for the Firm due to his skill and experience in successfully defending the rights of the accused in more than 70 counties throughout Michigan.

Attorney and Counselor – Michael J. Boyle [resume] joined the Barone Defense Firm in 2005 after a successful solo criminal defense practice. Mr. Boyle has been personally trained and mentored by the Firm’s principal and founding member Mr. Patrick T. Barone. Additionally, Mr. Boyle is a graduate of the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan Trial College. He is currently pursuing certification with the “Trial Lawyers College,” which was founded by nationally renowned trial attorney Gerry Spence. Like Mr. Barone, in pursing this training Mr. Boyle has worked personally with and been trained by Mr. Spence and has used this training to win drunk driving trials.

Mr. Boyle has been certified as a practitioner of the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests in accordance with the standards set forth by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This extensive training has provided him the ability to thoroughly and accurately review your case, and tactically cross examine arresting officers.

Mr. Boyle has had extensive training and experience in understanding the science and principals involved in chemical testing, including the BAC DataMaster (breath testing) and Gas chromatography (quantitative blood testing). He is also one of only four lawyers in Michigan (all of whom are employed with the Barone Defense Firm) who is certified in the use of BAC Tracker software. This unique and essential comprehension allows him to understand the complex science of alcohol metabolism and to fully analyze your case and confidently cross examine the State’s forensic experts.

Mr. Boyle is a teaching assistant to Adjunct Professor Patrick T. Barone at Thomas M. Cooley Law School, and is an active member of the Cooley Alumni Association. He is also a member of the State Bar of Michigan – Criminal Law Section, Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan, and Michigan DUI Lawyers Association.
